Aspeling Hub Expands Into a Bigger Future

For the past four years, Aspeling Hub has walked a unique journey as a homeschool-style high school. During this time, we have worked closely with learners from different backgrounds, helping them rebuild confidence, improve academically, and find a safe learning environment where they can grow.

However, through these years of experience, we have also faced a heartbreaking reality.

Many learners entering high school are struggling with the most basic reading and writing skills. Research worldwide continues to show that reading challenges in schools are increasing, with many learners reaching high school without the foundational literacy skills needed to cope with the workload. According to multiple educational studies, literacy gaps formed in primary school often continue into high school, making learning increasingly difficult for learners as subjects become more advanced.

High school should be the chapter where learners build on the foundation already laid during primary school. Unfortunately, many schools — whether government or private — are facing the impossible task of teaching high school content while still trying to reteach basic reading and comprehension skills.

As the founder of Aspeling Hub, this deeply saddens me.

We cannot ignore the reality that many learners are arriving in Grade 8 unable to confidently read, write, or fully understand foundational concepts. High school workloads are already overwhelming, and educators are left trying to close gaps that should have been addressed much earlier.

This is why Aspeling Hub is taking a bold new direction.

Starting in 2027, we will not accept new Grade 8 learners into our high school programme. Instead, we are expanding Aspeling Hub into a full Grade R 2027 class until they reach our high school.

Our mission is simple:
To build strong foundations from the very beginning.

We believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment where they are truly seen, supported, and guided step-by-step. By starting from Grade R, we can ensure that learners develop proper reading, writing, comprehension, and learning skills long before they enter high school.

Whether learners continue with us into high school or choose another path later on, Aspeling Hub will know that we played our part in laying a strong academic and emotional foundation.

To our current high school learners:
Our commitment to you remains unchanged. We will continue walking this journey with you all the way to Matric, supporting and guiding you toward success.

But as we enter this exciting new chapter, we are proud to announce that Aspeling Hub is growing into something even greater — a complete educational hub focused on quality learning from the earliest years right through to Grade 12.

We are also excited to launch our upcoming Grade R Open Day soon.

And as we have always believed:
Small classrooms work better.

Smaller learning environments allow learners to receive more attention, better support, and stronger relationships with educators — creating the space where true learning can happen.

The future of Aspeling Hub is not just about education.
It is about building confident, capable learners from the foundation upward.
